DISASTER RESILIENCE TRAININGS HAS BEEN COMPLETED
The Disaster Resilience Program training, jointly organized by the Ali Yavuzçehre Foundation and the GEA Search and Rescue Ecology and Humanitarian Aid Group, was successfully completed in three phases. The collaborative training process between the two institutions was a significant step towards effective intervention in disasters and enhancing disaster resilience.
The training process consisted of the following phases:
I. Zeroth Second Training: Participants acquired the necessary skills to make correct decisions during crises through training that includes rapid and effective intervention methods required during disasters.
II. First Responder Training: Participants were provided with information on how to ensure safety and mitigate risks at the scene, in addition to first aid techniques. This aimed to enable the effective implementation of first aid and safety measures in disaster areas.
III. Search and Rescue Training: Enriched with the experiences of the GEA search and rescue team, the training covered topics such as building and debris types, approaches to debris and search techniques, and first aid for victims and search and rescue teams.
In the final session, important topics such as on-site risks and safety, building and debris types, approaches to debris and search, approaches to victims, and first aid for search and rescue teams were addressed. The experienced team from GEA provided practical knowledge to participants to cope with challenges they may encounter in the field.
Our country is a nation living with the reality of earthquakes. Due to its geographical location and underground tectonic movements, it frequently faces earthquakes. These earthquakes can occur with magnitudes and effects that may cause loss of life and property.
The reality of earthquakes in the country emphasizes the need for society to be prepared for disasters. Measures such as disaster management, training, infrastructure strengthening efforts and raising awarreness among the population are crucial to reducing the potential impact of earthquakes and protecting human life. However, constantly updated and meticulously implemented disaster plans are a fundamental element in combating the risks posed by earthquakes.
To draw attention to this situation and ensure that this reality is not forgotten, our Resilience Against Disasters training was conducted in Denizli with 50 participants from various backgrounds.
